Thinking of moving to the Dallas/Ft Worth area. Would like to know which suburb(s) would be the best for job opportunities, nice and affordable housing (built within 10 yrs), low crime, friendly neighborhoods, and not far from things to do. Do not have any children so no need to worry about school systems. Thanks for your input!

There are a number of suburbs in the Dallas-Fort Worth area that meet your desired criteria. Since these cities aren't concentrated in just one area, I've grouped the communities by their relative location in the metropolitan area.

In Collin County, north of Dallas, the cities of Allen, Frisco, and McKinney are very popular communities that are desirable. According to recent population estimates by the North Central Texas Council of Governments, 80,400 people live in Allen, 100,800 in Frisco, and 121,850 reside in McKinney.

Northwest of Dallas in Denton County, Lewisville, Carrollton, and Corinth are nice. The Colony and Little Elm are faster-growing communities with reasonably priced housing.

In the eastern suburbs of Dallas, Rockwall has become a popular destination for newcomers. Forney has grown considerably as well. Mesquite and Rowlett are larger, more built-out suburban communities, but both have well-kept neighborhoods and other amenities.

To the south of Dallas, Cedar Hill is a nice community with lots of retail/shopping and recreational opportunities as it is located on the eastern shore of Joe Pool Lake. Other area cities that have experienced rapid population growth and lots of new home construction are DeSoto, Lancaster, Glenn Heights, Midlothian, Red Oak, and Waxahachie. All of these cities have nice, safe neighborhoods.

In neighboring Tarrant County (Fort Worth is the county seat), Mansfield, Hurst-Euless-Bedford, Keller, Burleson, Crowley, and North Richland Hills are nice cities.

The Dallas-Fort Worth area is quite large in size, so if you do decide to move here, factors such as place of employment and desired commute time should play a major role in your final decision on where to live.

Hope this helps!

There are nice suburbs with low crime and affordable housing all over the Metroplex, they are NOT limited just to cities north of Dallas. Yes, Plano, Frisco, Allen, and McKinney have great neighborhoods, but so do many of the other DFW suburbs.

I basically moved right here decrease than a month in the past from la. Dallas is super because of the fact a great number of the suburbs are greater moderen and cleanser than great previous cities like L.A/Chicago and so on. You get lots greater to you cash. Plano is super all around, colleges, issues to do, captivating section! Frisco is greater moderen and not as progressed as Plano yet is basically magnificent. those factors are effective and upscale with some variety (not all spanish/rednecks and so on) i admire diversitiy myself, however the section must be upscale! sturdy luck!

Look into the Mid-Cities between Dallas and Fort Worth. Much of the housing will be older but you can still find many new infill developments in the area. Crime is low, and it's convenient to both Dallas and FW. Avoid Arlington because crime is high. It's best to stay north of Airport Fwy.

A lot of people prefer Collin County but since you don't care about the school systems, the Mid-Cities are more convent to both Dallas and Fort Worth.

You may also want to look into Addison.

In my opinion the nicer suburbs are Plano, Allen, McKinney, Frisco, Flower Mound, Coppell, Carrollton, Las Colinas (which is actually a Master Planned community in the north part of the suburb of Irving). These are all nice areas, with low crime, friendly neighborhoods, close to things to do, with affordable housing, however the 2 with the most job opportunities would be Plano and Las Colinas. Depending on your career you may have to work in Dallas if you lived in the others.

Yes, like the others have said you would be wise to stick to the northern area of Dallas, Ft. Worth. The Grapevine area is central to everything but pricey. We lived in the city of Grand Prairie ( a middle, south suburb) and it was going down hill as far as crime and property values.

I'm with Plano, Allen, and Frisco... Stick with the north side of Dallas.

Parts of Plano, Allen, and Frisco would probably be your best bet.
